What is detox?

Detoxification (detox in short) is the process of eliminating or converting any toxic substances found in a living organism into something that is mild or harmless to the said organism. It is a normal process of removing toxins and wastes from the liver, colon, kidneys, lungs, gallbladder, lymph, skin and blood by the body. Just like heart beating, detoxification is a one of the body’s basic functions which happens naturally without a thought. Detoxification is a gift to living organism, it is one of the most therapeutic and a beneficial measure that may help to protect the body from being damaged or harmed by toxins or wastes.

Why need extra detox?

The function of detox is once capable to clear most of the unwanted substances out of the body while human is living in a less-polluted world, but now, the body’s systems and organs are seriously overloaded due to the polluted living environment.
Our body picks up all the junk from the convenient foods that we eat, absorbs the waste or polluted substances through the air we breathe, water we drink or even through the skin we touch the world. Sadly, in these days, our body natural detoxification system is not capable to remove the toxins out of the body fast enough compare with the rate we absorb it. Those unwanted substances such as heavy metal, industrial chemicals, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, anesthetics, drug residues, solvent, etc. are accumulated inside the body and affected our body system.

What is the natural ways to detox?

1.    Reduce toxins from our environment.
Although it is almost impossible to live in a toxins free atmosphere, try to reduce the chances that we may get contact with the dangerous chemicals. Regular vacuum our carpet to reduce the dusk contain in the place we live, avoid products containing fragrance, buy 100% cotton sheets, do not sleep on sheets which are made from polyester, permanent press linens, or polyester-cotton blends. Those materials release formaldehyde, a harmful substance that can be absorbed through skin or breathe into the lung.

2.    Eat more detoxifying foods
Fibre rich foods are good in detoxing. Increase our intake of foods such as brown rice, fresh fruits and vegetables. Cabbage, broccoli, beets, artichokes, radishes, onion, seaweed and chlorella are namely some foods that good for body’s detoxifying as well as anti-aging.

3.    Reduce convenient foods, fast foods, junk foods…
The consumption of those foods will not bring any benefit to our body except for bringing in more unhealthy and chemical substances into our body. Want to keep our skin looks fair and healthy? Stay away from junk foods!

4.    Drink enough water
Drinking enough of water may speedy the body detoxification process. Water acts as an agent to eliminate wastes and toxins out from our body. Drink pure or filtered water instead of bottle drink. Drink at least two quarts of water a day. Water instantly stimulates our liver, kidney and digestive system’s function.  It will help to increase the metabolism rate and fasten the removal of waste, toxin and fats.

5.    Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an important water-soluble vitamin and a powerful antioxidant that aids our body to detoxify harmful substances. It contains in most of the fruits and vegetables, especially guava, citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, peppers, broccoli and potatoes. Our body need Vitamin C for a healthy immune system, formation, growth and repair of tissues, healthy bones and skin.

6.    Positive thinking
Life is short, why are we still allow those negative thoughts and bad emotion to ruin our day? The change of negative thinking to positive ones is the only way could lead our life to change from bad to good. Negative thought is like a poison to our mind, it make us to feel depress, hopeless, anxiety, gloomy and disappointment. Positive thinking is the cure for our depression. It helps to detox our mind and as well as our body’s system. We’ll feel happier and life is easier when we know how to think in the positive ways.

7.    Breathe deeply
Deep breath may allow more oxygen to circulate throughout our body’s system. It is one of the best ways to eliminate our blood waste or carbon dioxide out from the body.

8.    Exercise
Undeniable, exercise is definitely the most effective way for detoxification. It helps to clear our toxins and wastes through breathing and sweating. Besides improving our stamina and health, exercise also helps us to reduce stress and achieve our peace of mind.
